When I first got into property, I had to go through a series of hits and misses to realise which strategies benefitted and worked for me.
Here are 3 lessons I learned when I started in property:
Connections are the backbone
Property is more than just selling houses and buildings, but a business for the people. The market exists because of people looking for a place to live, rent out, or invest in.
Join your local pin meeting, join a property group, or get in touch with friends who are investors as well. Foster and develop these connections in your career and you will be able to experience more opportunities together.
Location is key
One of the things that makes a property marketable is the location itself.
Investing in a good location adds more reasons as to why your property is worthy of being sold or rented out.
Is it in close proximity to groceries, schools, hospitals, or transportation? Is it placed in a well-developed and peaceful environment? Fifteen minutes away from the beach? No traffic in the area?
There’s always something for everyone. Maximise your location to attract a target audience.
Have measurable plans and goals
While thinking big is great, there’s always a time and place for it. Starting out small and having realistic expectations at the beginning of your property career can help familiarise yourself with how things work while also minimising risks at the start.
What are lessons you learned at the beginning of your property career? Let me know in the comments.
