Benefits of getting out of your comfort zone

Even the most daring person has a comfort zone of some kind.

Perhaps you’ve worked at the same position for a very long time and the mere thought of change makes you break out in a cold sweat. Whatever it is, a comfort zone can be restrictive even though it is undoubtedly comfortable.

For this reason, occasionally moving outside of your comfort zone can be a beneficial method to encourage personal growth.

Here are some advantages that you can encounter as you gather the courage to venture outside of your comfort zone.

1.) It builds self-confidence.

Increasing your confidence can have a good effect on a variety of aspects of your life. As you confront your anxieties and try new things, your confidence will increase, even more so when you overcome them.

Everybody follows a different route, therefore what you need to boost your confidence could be different from what someone else requires. Pay attention to your personal development and the objectives you’ve set for yourself.

2.) It gives you an opportunity to grow and learn about yourself.

Giving yourself the chance to develop can be quite effective. Sometimes it can be difficult to acquire new experiences, gain new skills, or form new connections if you don’t leave your comfort zone. Despite the fact that these things can be frightening, they frequently present enormous growth and opportunity.

At the same time, you can discover more about who you are by stepping outside of your comfort zone. What terrifies you? What causes you to feel uneasy? Do particular individuals make you feel this way? You can better understand your concerns and triggers when you learn more about yourself and how you react.

Yes, it is always going to be a challenge to step out of your comfort zone, but the positives almost always outweigh the negatives. Sometimes, stepping out of it is the best way to get where you need to be in life to continue pursuing your goals.

Take me as an example: I’m not really that comfortable with meeting new people or speaking in public. However, it is what I find myself doing a lot more and more these days especially since I organise and host PIN meetings. Public speaking was one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced during my journey, but I decided and continue to face it head on.

Although I am not a public speaker, I find it being a bit easier because I’ve been doing this for a few months now. It is all good though because as I put myself through these situations, I’m finding valuable connections who can help me, and whom I can also help.
