Has there ever been a time when you felt that all the considerable risks you took have finally begun to pay off?
Today marks my first month as a full-time property investor. I had resigned from my old job and took on this journey of being my own boss.
Of course, with that choice came a lot of work but that did not stop me from getting down and working towards my dreams. This past month has been a busy yet fulfilling one for me: I had closed some deals on five flats by the end of September. So in October, I had to pull my sleeves up and go to work.
Along with my team, we had some refurbishing done on two flats. Because of those refurbs, I am very happy to say that I was able to get the top ceiling price and now both of those flats are being rented. The rest of the flats I had were already tenanted, so I just sorted things out with them and everything was fine.
I also celebrated Diwali this October, which allowed me a few days of rest. Fortunately for me, it coincided with a week-long school break and I was able to spend a week with my family. That last week of October we had just stopped for a bit with all the work and stress.
Being able to go on afternoon walks with my kids, have breakfast with them, and overall just be with them – was a really big factor in my decision to be a full-time property investor. These are things I wouldn’t have been able to do as an employee.
I absolutely love having the freedom and flexibility of being able to choose what I want to work on and being able to organise my calendar in a way that actually fits my lifestyle.
It’s been an absolutely amazing first month for me as a full-time property investor, having that fulfilment and satisfaction that my choices are working out and being able to live my dream. I know that there will be more hard work along the way, but I am fully prepared to keep living my dream and being with my family.
Don’t be afraid to chase your dreams and live the way you choose.
